Any Thoughts?

I'm not sure how many notice but in my links at the side under 'Blogs of Interest', I have the 'Celebrity Baby Blog'. Yes, I read this daily, I'm nosey lol. Anyway, this came up in the blog,

Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston

It's a sculpture of Britney Spears giving birth. Well the artist's perception on it. It's very interesting and definitely resembles Britney. Supposedly the sculpture shows her baby, Sean, crowning but of course we don't get to see those photos! This is in support of Pro-Life which is great and cool all the same but it doesn't sit extremely well since Britney had a c-section! I think it would hold move value and have more of an impact if she actually had him naturally. Anyway, what are your opinions?

I belong to a mom's board and we were just discussing this.

First, who the hell actually looks like that when they give birth? I know I was screaming, sweating, cussing like a sailor and definitely didn't have a serene look on my face.

Second, pro-life? Please. This was a planned pregnancy and if it was an unplanned pregnancy I'm sure she would have been INCREDIBLY happy to have had a CHOICE!

Third, the person says that she's a ROLE MODEL...Um, hello are we talking about the same Brittany Spears? She's no role model. She has a billion gagillon dollars and he praises her for having the courage to have the baby? She had a C-section and she has the money to afford the nannies to take care of the baby. It's not like she's struggling to make ends meet and made the choice to have the baby under all costs. THAT would be a role model for Pro-Life.

I was thinking about posting that link too and seeing what was up...I have another one I will post that ticks me off too! :)

I think it is absolutely ridiculous. Lisa is right, who looks like that during labour?! And your point about her having a C-section is a good one, she would never have experienced a baby crowning so how could she have agreed to have this statue made??? From somebody who has had 2 natural vaginal births with no pain relief I find this offensive. I can't believe they chose her, anyway. She is a terrible role model for young girls!
Can you tell I can't stand Britney? LOL :-)

Lisa - I completely agree with everything you said and you probably said it soooooooo much better than I could have! Plus I think people get tired of hearing my rants ;) I'm sure I could have went on and on in this post lol!

Hannah - I'm not sure she agreed to it, do you have to agree to something like that? What will little Sean think when he is all grown up?

I think and agree with all that you guys have said, but I can't move away from this thought: what the heck is a lions head doing in the sculpture? I supppose I should go all arty-farty and pull out some *deep* art philosophy out of my head (haven't done that since my uni days!), but I can't see the relevance. Perhaps the lion means 'courage' and therefore she is courageous. But to me this sculpture is ludicrous and insulting AND irrelevant, given that she had a c-section and never actually experienced the crowning of her babys head as such. To me, this sculpture smacks of someone wanting to get some controversy going and make a name for themselves and lots of cash as well!
